Biography

Professor Mark Tuthill has been and training in the martial arts since 1977 teaching professionally since 1984.

His training began under Sensei Mike Teto, the founder of Shin-Yo Karate, later with Professor Wally Jay, founder of Small Circle Jujitsu™ and continues today with 9th degree black belt Professor Ed Melaugh of New England Small Circle Jujitsu™.

A two time inductee into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as ” Instructor of the Year,” Professor Tuthill was also inducted into the American Federation of Martial Arts Hall of Fame as “International Instructor of the Year.” He holds a 2nd degree black belt in shin-yo karate, a 5th degree black belt under Jujitsu America, and a 7th degree black belt in Small Circle Jujitsu™.

 

He is also a recognized Kyoshi and Professor of the martial arts.

In 1996 Professor Wally Jay honored Professor Tuthill by naming him Head Instructor of Long Island Small Circle Jujitsu™ and in 2000 named him “Goodwill Ambassador for Small Circle Jujitsu™.  He is also “Director at Large” for Jujitsu America, one of the largest jujitsu organizations in the US.

Outside the home dojo in East Hampton, NY, Professor Tuthill travels extensively teaching in the US, Caribbean, and Europe. He conducts women’s self-defense and rape prevention seminars as well as trainings for law enforcement officers.

 

Professor Tuthill is founder of “Street Combat Jujitsu” and “Centerline Football.”
