Biography

Geoff started his athletic career at the age of 10, swimming AAU, which he continued through High School.

 

Swimming led to water polo, which he played in high school and college, and learned some of his first combat techniques, though they were all underwater… Between swimming and water polo season Geoff wrestled for 5 years. 

 

After moving to Chico, Geoff discovered the art of Dan Zan Ryu Jujitsu in 1975 and never looked back. Geoff was lucky enough to train with Senior Professor Lamar Fisher as well as Prof Fisher’s Sensei, Professor Merlin “Bud” Estes.

 

Geoff has also trained in Tai Chi, off and on, since 1977 with Linyi Maslin, daughter of Grand Master Young Wabu.
