Professor Eric Pietrelli Biography

Professor Pietrelli began Danzanryu Kodenkan Ju-Jitsu in the Summer of 1968 under the instruction of Sensei Kurt Evan’s at Granada Hills Ju Jitsu Kai. Within three years he began his studies under Professor James Marcinkus by traveling over 60 miles twice a week to the Penmar Dojo in the Santa Monica area of California.

 

In 1975 he became Sensei of Granada Hills Ju Jitu Kai and then received the Rank of Shodan in 1976 from the American Judo and Ju Jitsu Federation under Sensei James A. Marcinkus. Eric continued teaching at Granada Hills Ju Jitsu Kai, while traveling throughout California and Nevada visiting various dojo. He lived at both the Nubukikan in Chico Ca studying with Professor Lamar Fisher and the Bushidokan Dojo in Sparks until awarding Granada Hills Ju Jitsu Kai to Keven Colton in 1986.

 

From 1986 thru 1989 he was employed in the aerospace industry specializing in rocket development for the Space Shuttle and various satellite programs while earning his Nidan and Sandan Ranks. Having specific interest in medicine and the healing arts he began his intense study and practice of Sefukujitsu and Kappo in 1974 under Professor Merlin “Bud” Estes, Professor Tom Ball, and Professor Lamar Fisher. 

 

In 1978 he published Satauzai© detailing medicinal properties and mixology of liniments used while practicing Sefukujitsu Japanese massage. In that same year he published Okazaki Long Life Massage, A clinic Manual© utilized while teaching both his students and at seminars when instructing the arts of Sefukujitsu massage.

Eric continued his formal education in both Health Sciences and Mathematics earning National Certification in Paramedicine NREMT-P and became FAA certified for Medical Flight Transport in both fixed wing and helicopter, flying over 300 missions.

 

Following the esoteric principals, he volunteered his services in 2005 to the victims of Hurricane Katrina providing air support evacuations and delivering supplies, where ground support was unavailable, with the American Red Cross and Evergreen Helicopters out of Galveston Texas.

In 2013 the Bushidokan Federation recognized Eric’s 45 years of learning and teaching in Danzanryu and was promoted the rank of Godan and title of Professor by Senior Professor Herb LaGue.

Eric continues to both study and teach the arts and sciences of Danzanryu through his dojo DaiShinKan, Body Spirit School of Danzanryu JuJitsu and is a strong supporter of the Danzanryu system world wide recognizing the contributions of all organizations and instructors in the Danzanryu system.
